With laser eye surgery, patients can experience what it feels like to be glasses-free

Quickly discover how the most popular elective surgery in the world can give you visual freedom in moments

Laser eye surgery corrects poor vision, giving you freedom from your glasses and contact lenses so that you can live your life to the fullest.

We use laser eye surgery to correct short-sightedness, long-sightedness, astigmatism, and sometimes, the symptoms of presbyopia.

We use the laser to alter the shape of the cornea to ensure light reaching the back of the eye is correctly focused.

Laser treatments are a safe, effective and convenient way to avoid some of the disadvantages of wearing glasses and contact lenses.

It often provides a better result than wearing glasses or contact lenses as there is no barrier or object around the outside of the eye. This allows for a clear view

There are many myths about laser eye surgery. Many well-meaning opticians tell patients that they are unsuitable for laser eye surgery.

The truth is that unless you have had the specialised scans and assessments that only a laser eye surgeon and laser eye surgery clinic can perform, then this advice is probably incorrect.

Modern laser eye surgery has evolved to the point where it is very unusual not to be able to offer a patient one of the three generations of laser procedures.

We can now treat prescriptions from -12.0 units of short-sightedness up to +4.0 units of long-sightedness. We can even combine these treatments with correction for up to 4 units of astigmatism.

What’s more, even if you are one of the rare patients who are not suitable for laser, we now have incredible implantable contact lens (ICL) technology, an excellent type of surgery alternative to laser.

We will oversee a full range of diagnostic tests during your initial assessment to evaluate both your eye health and your glasses prescription.

We will also evaluate your vision needs concerning your occupation and hobbies. Based on this information, we will give you personalised advice on your options and what you can expect from laser vision correction.

We will guide you along every stage of the laser eye surgery process, from the first consultation to post-surgical care.

A cool beam laser makes subtle adjustments to the shape of the surface of your eye (the cornea), correcting its tiny imperfections and making your vision clearer and sharper. Patients are amazed at how quickly they recover and the speed at which they can enjoy a life free from your glasses and contact lenses.
Over 40 million people across the globe have had laser eye surgery. Of course, all surgical procedures carry a degree of risk, but laser eye surgery has an impressive safety record and transforms vision beyond most patients’ expectations.

The alternatives to laser eye surgery include:

  • Implantable contact lenses – Here, we place a lens inside the eye on the surface of the natural lens. It’s comparable to wearing a contact lens permanently, except the contact lens is in the eye rather than on the surface of the eye.
  • Lens eye surgery – This is a great alternative for older patients with presbyopia who cannot read at a close distance. This procedure involves removing the natural lens and replacing it with a multifocal lens implant to give good distance, intermediate and close-up vision.

Step 1: We apply anaesthetic eye drops which quickly numbs the eye.
Step 2: The laser works in a matter of seconds, sending pulses of laser beams onto your cornea to reshape any imperfections.
Step 3: Most patients experience improved vision within a few days, though full recovery can take up to a week.

The goal of any laser eye surgery is to reduce your dependence on corrective lenses. The vast majority of our patients are extremely happy with their vision after laser eye surgery; they see 20/20 or better and can do most activities without dependence on corrective lenses.

You’re just one step away from enjoying a fuller, more enriched life without glasses or contact lenses.

Say goodbye to tiresome visual aids with a suitability assessment in your local area. It really couldn’t be easier.

In October 2009, the FDA, the National Eye Institute (NEI), and the Department of Defense (DoD) launched the LASIK Quality of Life Collaboration Project (LQOLCP) to better understand the potential risk of severe problems that can result from LASIK. The project’s goal was to develop a tool for determining the percent of patients who develop difficulties performing usual activities following LASIK, and to identify predictors for those patients.

PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) is a type of laser refractive surgery to correct myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) and astigmatism.

PRK was the first type of laser eye surgery for vision correction and has been performed longer than LASIK, which has surpassed PRK in popularity.

Though it takes a bit longer to recover from PRK than LASIK, PRK offers advantages over LASIK for some patients.
